A better work-day gives them room for creativity and for opportunities to challenge themselves to grow. A better work day doesn’t mean zero stress, but instead, having the right mind-set and being empowered with the tools needed to accomplish any task and overcome obstacles that employees may encounter at work each day.

Here are easy ways to make your work days easier and your employees happier:

1. Set goals.

With goal-setting, you are giving yourself and your employees a direction that will guide their actions within the company. Having a clear sense of vision and direction motivates employees to be excellent at their work. Setting goals also makes employees feel important because this is a way of letting them know that their contributions are directly tied to the growth of the company. As a manager, it would be easier for you to oversee and check your team’s performance if all your goals are aligned with the company’s vision.

2. Set up a recreation area for break time at work.

Let your employees maximize their breaktime by creating a recreation area at work. An hour of play or nap will allow them to come back to work feeling inspired and recharged. Plush office furniture, a library, a play area or a snack area are great to have in any office. If you’re the manager, give yourself time to reflect and rest from work. Allow yourself to pause as this is often the time when new ideas come in.

3. Equip them with all the tools needed for their work.

Make a checklist of what each employee needs at work. This is not only limited to office supplies and gadgets but also includes the actual office interior and furniture. Employees on the average spend 40 hours of their week at work, and employees can convey genuine concern by making them feel as comfortable as possible. A concrete example of this is by providing desks and chairs that support the back, especially for the staff who spend most of their work days at their desk. Let your staff know that you respect them by valuing their health, safety, and well-being.

4. Empower them with training.

Training the staff makes their workday easier because experts are equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle challenges at work. It also inspires them to give back to the company because they know that the management trusts them and cares for their own growth within the company.

5. Give feedback!

Communication plays a major role in making any job easier. Give regular feedback on tasks performed by the staff. Don’t wait for the evaluation period before you give them feedback. Letting them know how they have performed at a certain task helps them stay on track and avoid errors that can be costly to the company. Keep your communication lines open and encourage them to give you feedback too as their leader. The insights of your staff will also allow you to see blind spots or areas where you can further improve.
