Plain Changing Room Bench or Bench With Coat Hooks

The plain benches are seating only, with no back and no hooks: 3 wooden ash slats on a welded tubular steel frame in blue. Choose the 1000mm, 1500mm or 2000mm width, seating about 2, 3 or 4 people at about 500mm a person.

The benches with coat hooks add a frame 1800mm high above a beech slatted seat. The steel hooks are powder-coated in the frame colour, blue or grey, and set 170mm apart. There’s 1360mm from the seat to the top of the frame, so long coats can hang above the seat. Every bench has 75mm slats with a 50mm gap.

Single Sided Against a Wall or Double Sided Island

The single sided bench with hooks stands against a wall. It’s 1500mm wide and 385mm deep overall, with a 320mm seat and 7 hooks, and seats about 3. It comes with a blue or grey frame.

The double sided bench with hooks stands in the middle of the room as an island, used from both sides. It’s 755mm deep overall, with a 320mm seat per side and 14 hooks, and seats about 3 a side, 6 in all. Measure the room against that 755mm depth and leave clear space on both sides for people to sit and change. It comes with a blue or grey frame.

Planning a Changing Room: How Much Bench Seating a Group Needs

Allow about 500mm a person, then match that length to the benches’ widths.

For a squad of 16: 16 × 500mm = 8,000mm of bench. That’s four 2000mm plain benches (4 × 4 = 16), or two double sided benches with hooks (2 × 6 = 12) plus one 2000mm plain bench (4), with 28 hooks.

For a school class of 30: 30 × 500mm = 15,000mm. That’s five double sided benches with hooks (5 × 6 = 30, with 70 hooks), or four single sided benches with hooks along the walls (4 × 3 = 12) and three double sided in the middle (3 × 6 = 18), also with 70 hooks.

Pool, Shower and Drying Room Benches

Every bench suits changing rooms by pools and showers and other wet areas, as well as gym changing rooms, dressing rooms, cloakrooms and locker rooms. The steel frames have a rust-resistant powder-coated finish, and the seats have a 50mm gap between each 75mm slat.

The benches with hooks also suit staff changing rooms and site drying rooms, where workers sit to change and hang wet hi-vis and PPE on the hooks.

How wide should a locker room bench be?

Allow about 500mm a person. On that basis the 1000mm bench seats about 2, the 1500mm bench and the single sided bench with hooks about 3, and the 2000mm bench about 4. The double sided bench with hooks seats about 3 a side, 6 in all, depending on how much room people want.

Can the benches be fixed to the floor?

Yes, fixing down is optional on every bench, so each can be left freestanding or fixed down. The plain benches come with brackets that bolt onto the legs and everything needed to fix the bench down. The benches with hooks have bolt holes and brackets built into the feet, with the fixings included.
