Sumo Workbench Guide

Before assembling the bench, check that all required components are included.

  • For safety and comfort, we recommend that the workbench is assembled by two people
  • Sumo workbenches are industrial quality products, so we recommend that safety gloves and shoes are worn when assembling it
  • Boltless - nuts and bolts are not required - only a mallet, ideally a dead blow mallet, is needed for assembly
  • To ensure that beams are correctly positioned in the upright holes, it may be necessary to use force when hitting them with the mallet
  • Ensure workbench is positioned on an even floor

Workbench components:

Depending on the style of workbench purchased, the list of components will be:

4 plastic feet

4 plastic feet

1 left to right T-bar beam (for benches without a bottom shelf)

1 left to right T-bar beam (for benches without a bottom shelf)

2 or 4 left to right beams

2 or 4 left to right beams

4 front to back beams

4 front to back beams

2 or 4 shelf supports

2 or 4 shelf supports

4 blue uprights

4 blue uprights

1 or 2 pieces of chipboard

1 or 2 pieces of chipboard

Step 1

Push plastic foot onto each of the uprights, ensuring that the smaller part of the keyhole in the upright is at the bottom

Take two uprights and knock 2 front to back beams into the uprights.

For benches without a bottom shelf, the front to back beams with a middle stud should be placed at the lower level (7 clear holes from the bottom)

Repeat step 2 with the other 2 uprights so that you have 2 complete end frames

Take two long left to right beams and knock into the uprights at the same height as the bottom short beams

Knock the other ends of the long beams into the second end frame.

Repeat for top beams for work surface

Knock the left to right beams into the end frames at the same height as the top short beams.

Knock the left to right T bar beam into the studs of the bottom front to back beams

Knock shelving supports into the outer studs of each shelf level ensuring that the support is flush with the top of the beam. (2 supports per shelf)

Place the chipboard decks on top of each level
