Back to WorkFor most people, it’s the beginning of a new school and work year, the festivities are over, and as the saying goes; it’s back to reality.

Twitter’s two main trends in the UK this morning are currently ‘#backtowork’ and ‘#firstdayback’ – it appears the whole nation is in the same boat!

Although the start of the year might mean returning to school or work, it also gives you the chance to take up a new hobby or activity.

An article by The Telegraph discusses how to beat the blues of returning to work on the first Monday of the year, including how to take the day in your stride; you don’t want to use the festive period as an excuse to slack at work!

With this being said, the New Year fills people with hopes and expectations of what it has to bring – are you starting a new fitness regime or diet plan today? Do you have any personal or financial goals you wish to achieve?

We would like to hear about these and see if we fancy taking up any of them ourselves!

If you are struggling for ideas, why not pick a couple from this list we have put together in order to get you motivated:

  • Join the gym (the classic)
  • Take up a new class, e.g. a type of sport
  • Learn something new, e.g. cooking, sewing, photography, a language
  • Have a clear out and donate old clothes/belongings to charity
  • Eat more healthily
  • Walk/cycle instead of drive
  • Be happier – it takes more muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile!

This list might be filled with a couple of clichés, but if you are wanting to make a change to your lifestyle, why not jump on the bandwagon? By the time next Christmas comes around, you won’t have to worry about tucking in to all the treats with your new abs!
